Why Do South Carolina Jews Deny Jewish Racism?

Over at William Quick’s website named Steveshits, my brother in law   claims that I have said that “the KKK was founded in “Charleston South Carolina, where principles of the KK [sic] were written in a synagogue.[sic]”

Sadly Bill is wrong about the racist history of the synagogue he now belongs to. The Jewish racism of Charleston and the origins of THE principles used to create the KKK are well documented. I did not say that the KKK was founded in Charleston, but the white terrorist group was based on the Scottish Rite, a racist doctrine within free masonry. Prominent Charleston Jews were members of this synagogue and among founders of the Scottish Rite and the authors of this doctrine.

Though the size of the Jewish population in the ante bellum South was small,  based on the support the good Jewish citizens of th Confederacy gave their slave holding regime, I can only assume we would  have been supportive of the Klan if it had not decided to also focus hatred on Jews.

Support for racism among the Jews of South Carolina might have been expected since the majority of the pre civil war Jewish households contained slaves and patriotic Jews were avid supporters of the Confederacy.  That is no excuse for ignoring the guilt we Jews, of all peoles, should learn to accept.
