Patrick Rushing, mayor of Airway Heights (a Spokane suburb), gained national notoriety this week for posting the following remark about the President and First Lady on his Facebook page:
“Gorilla face Michelle, can’t disagree with that. The woman is not attractive except to monkey man Barack. Check out them ears. LOL.”
The city council, to its credit, asked him to resign from his $2,000-a-month position. (According to the Spokesman-Review, Rushing had already lost his school bus driving job earlier this year for failing to report an accident.) Rushing refused. His ludicrous explanation was that doing so would be admitting he’s a racist, and “I’m not a racist.” He claims he just joking with friends.
But journalists at The Inlander, a Spokane-based alternative weekly, took a closer look at his “joking with friends.” They found he’s a hate-filled racist, sexist, and bigot who disparages black, gays, and women; and wishes someone would kill the President and First Lady. 
He called President Obama a “Muslim” and “traitor,” depicted him as a skunk, and described the President’s wife as a “Hoochie Mama.” He referred to Hillary Clinton’s “small breasts,” joked about handicapped people, made disparaging remarks about women, lewd remarks about lesbians, and talked about “kicking gay ass.” He posted a photoshopped picture of President Obama kissing a man, and voiced support for businesses that discriminate against gays. He’s an admirer of Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio and the Confederate flag. And lots more. Here’s a sampler of Rushing’s Facebook postings (click on image to enlarge):
