Jesus vs G-D This is a mess. Christian self forgiveness leaves us with the dilemna of the past and guilt. Judea was destroyed by the Roman Empire and the Pope is the last remanant of that tradition. The historic guilt for the destruction of Judea was Roman under the pagans but the converted empire, after Costantine, intensified that effort .. declaring the “holy land” must be free of Jews. The credibility of this good Pope, one of the few to deserve being called a good man, would be enhanced if the Vatican began by accepting its guilt.
VATICAN CITY (AP) — The Vatican signed a treaty with the “State of Palestine” on Friday, saying it hoped its legal recognition of the state would help stimulate peace with Israel and that the treaty itself would serve as a model for other Mideast countries. The Vatican said it hoped the Vatican’s recognition “may in some way be a stimulus to bringing a definitive end to the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which continues to cause suffering for both parties.”
Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon called the treaty itself one-sided, saying the text ignored “the historic rights of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel and to the places holy to Judaism in Jerusalem.”
