The dishonesty of corporate hucksters

Plenty of people have gotten rich by selling unhealthy products.

For years, tobacco companies denied smoking caused lung cancer, despite overwhelming medical and scientific evidence, and fought tooth-and-claw against government efforts to educate the public about the health risks of smoking.

Remember Saturday morning cartoon shows, whose main function was to pitch sugar-laden breakfast cereals to kids?

” … [I]n the early 1970s, … the leading trade group representing both sugar growers and sugar refiners, launched a campaign premised on the idea that sugar was a useful diet aid. The campaign came during a time when the Sugar Association itself was discovering links between the consumption of sugar and conditions like diabetes and obesity.”
