GOP senator and presidential aspirant Lindsey Graham went on Face the Nation today primarily to defend his bachelorhood, but he also called Obama’s administration a “failed presidency.” Apparently he’s forgotten how bad the economy in 2009, how much better it is today, and how the stock market has gone up since then; that our troops have come home from two wars a previous GOP president got us into and couldn’t extricate himself from; and that health care inflation has slowed dramatically and millions more are insured since Obama took office. A failure? Sen. Graham needs a reality check.

He admits his party has an “angry white man” problem, sees the Tea Party’s demand for mass deportations of immigrants as impractical and bad politics, and was the only Republican on the House Judiciary Committee to vote against impeaching Bill Clinton. He has sensible positions (for a Republican) on issues like climate change, gun control, and tax reform; and has been willing to compromise and work with Democrats on a range of issues.
