Josh Feit on Sawant

“am I to believe that the 120,000 new people expected to move here in the next 20 years are all six-figure yuppies who should be charged extra while the six-figure yuppies in Laurelhurst, Madison Park, Inverness, and Magnolia aren’t part of the housing equation?”

Josh’s point is that Sawant, having recently bought her new house in Seattle, wants to “solve” the housing problem by creating taxes directed at new people who come to live here! Her proposal is to tax new developments (as opposed to taxing single family houses in Broadmoor, Leschi or Laurelhurst) and penalize people who drive into Seattle to do business (as opposed to taking their business to Bellevue Mall or Southcenter). The only way this makes sense is if you think Seattle should be afraid, very afraid of the barbarians who might want to live here or shop here.

Josh makes a second point …

“The city’s own smart growth policies direct our new population into dense, transit oriented enclaves that are designed to undo the burden that suburban-style single family zones are putting on our infrastructure, our transportation grid, and our housing stock.”

All that new construction we see along Capital Hill’s Broadway of Ballard’s Market Street may be ugly but it is changing Seattle a good way, turning our city into a place for high density housing. This new density will also make out cultural scene and local marketplaces more vibrant. Is that a bad thing? People can bring in their own style to the city, be it through peel and stick wallpaper inside the houses, or unique styles outside. Would Sawant rather see endless suburban sprawl?

Sawant's house TA post corrected

Correction from Sonja Hansen Ponath at FACEBOOK Sonja old me that the original post was ” the neighbor’s house. Their house is a modest two bedroom, very simple and not this huge thing on the pic. And so what, lots of work, savings of two adults over the years is how things are now since houses cost a fortune!” NOTE: the image is from Google’s streetview, Clsoe inspection will show some offsets segments .these are errors form Google.

Rather than showboating, Sawant (if she had the intelligence, honesty and commitment) might be pushing for better zoning rules that would increase development around light rail and on transportation corridors like 15h Ave NW or Lake City Way. She might also be advocating policies that would involve big employers like the UW or Exepedia int encouraging development of workforce housing? Feits comment: ” She’s spent her energy trying to hold the single family zones harmless for the very problems that our 1950s, suburban template has exacerbated in Seattle: housing costs and clunky transportation.”
For another opinion ….

Stephen Schwartz is now actively beginning to doxx Kshama Sawant (release personal info like alleged photos of her home) to this group. That is a violation of Facebook policy.

Akilah Stewart No, doxxing is not allowed in this group. The admins will be posting definition of doxxing. Other political groups on fb have been reported for this behavior and fb has subsequently shut them down.

Akilah Stewart Posting offline personal information, whether it be of a member, or elected official, is reprehensible. and I will take time out of my day to confirm what actions fb takes against groups that do permit this outrageous behavior. the almost 1,400 members of this group deserve better than on/offline harrassment period.

Akilah Stewart Stephen – this isn’t a damn argument. fb is a publicly traded company and therefore, if you were under the mistaken impression that the first amendment applies on a corporate website, then you need to re-read fb terms of service.

Stephen Schwartz Akilah Stewart OF COURSE my “quote” is unsubatnatiated. That si the point here. Sawant’s suporters routinely make extremist claims that deserve to be fact checked. The detials of her home address are opubic records.

Joe Szilagyi Stephen Schwartz you have no rights. FB is a private site and the long term survival of these groups are more important than your presence on them.

So yes, follow the rules, or click the Leave Group button.

Stephen Schwartz i KNOW ALL TO WELL that FB is run much like its equivalents in China. It si part of the corporate destruction of free speech here.

As for doxing, is the use of public information to fact check “doxing?”

Joe Szilagyi There’s no acceptable circumstance to post a City Councilmember’s home address without their leave. Add in your statement that you plan to ‘go by’ her house and that’s why we’re putting these rules into these groups.

    You, Stephen Schwartz, are responsible.

I think I will leave this sort of Bolshevik media control to run its course. I will copy the thread to The-Ave so others can see how bizar the begavior is, but othertwise I want to get back to discussing real issues that affect District 3.

oe Szilagyi Really? Post all the addresses of the Mayor and City Council and SPD Chiefs, then. How long do you think it would take SPD and or the FBI to investigate you? Common sense, ‘tovarish’.

You know crazy stalker people use data like this to stalk and harass public figures, right?

You needed to back off hours ago. Stop now or you’ll end up banned.
