Why The UW Will Die As A Premier School

Harvard University

Dear Members of the Harvard Community,

I am delighted to announce that John A. Paulson MBA ’80 has pledged $400 million to support the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). Since its establishment in 2007, the School has grown its intellectual profile, supported groundbreaking research and teaching, and emerged as a powerful connector of faculty and students across the University. This unprecedented gift will advance each of those efforts as we further develop plans for expansion into new spaces in Allston.

A strong engineering and applied sciences presence is essential to Harvard’s future, and our gratitude is matched only by our enthusiasm for all that this gift will support and enable. In honor of this historic philanthropic act, the School will be renamed the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The deanship of SEAS will also be renamed in his honor. For more details, please visit the Harvard Gazette.

Sincerely,

Drew Faust
