We have much to be ashamed of in our own state. The abuse of farm workers in the State has been as bad as that in any other agricultural state dependent on immigrant labor. The Tea Party of Washington State has the same racist hatred of President Obama as any Tea Party from Texas or South Carolina even though some of their vitriol got scrubbed when it appeared on a Republican web site during the last election .
Our most historic problem may be that this is the state where the John Birch society was founded. How many know that it was the Kochs’ 
father who funded the Birchers and that the family is a major owner of Northwest lumber thr9ugh their Zellerbach subsidiary? Do you wipe yourself with Angelsoft, use Brawny paper towels to clean up after the puppy, or drink form Dixie cups?
While I do not think the Birchers have their headquarters here anymore, the Southern Poverty Law Group identified 10 overtly bigoted groups in our own state, four of these in my own city Seattle.
Personally, I would ad one more .. the Discovery Institute. That “respectable” institute spreads blasphemy against science … especially about evolution .. that is as foul as anything spread by Angelsoft toilet tissue.
