News Flash — Arkansas governor rejects Indiana-style hate law

Breaking News — CNN reports that Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson won’t sign the so-called “religious freedom” bill passed by that state’s GOP-controlled legislature this week, and will direct the legislature to change it so “the bill mirrors federal law.”

Indiana’s GOP governor Mike Pence unleashed a political firestorm last week when he signed a hate law legalizing discrimination against gays by individuals and businesses. ap_asa_hutchinson_gun_control_nra_thg_130402_wblogPence has unsuccessfully sought to defend the hate law, and himself, by falsely claiming it’s the same as a federal law enacted by Congress and signed by President Bill Clinton in 1992.
