America’s gun fetish takes kids’ lives

“A five-year-old Harris, Texas boy shot and critically wounded his six-year-old brother on Monday, March 2, 2015. Unbelievably, this was the third child shooting in Harris, Texas since Friday. Just four days earlier a three-year-old boy died after shooting himself in the head with a loaded gun, which was being kept in a purse. Then, on Sunday, four-year-old shot NRA-Charlton-Hestonhimself with a gun he found in the home of his babysitter. … 10,000 children are injured by firearms in the United States, every year. Something has to change.” (Click here for source article).

But nothing ever changes, or will change, because the gun lobby likes things the way they are.

When I lived in Houston in the 80s, tragedies like this were an almost weekly occurrence. Good to know that the NRA has ensured that they will continue to mount.

Why don’t we have strict penalties for gun owners when their guns are misused? Do they carry insurance? What liability does ownership entail?
