Ben Carson is a hyperventilating bloviator

Ben Carson is running for the GOP presidential nomination. Hey, this is America; everybody’s welcome, and the more, the merrier! I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have an ordinary American citizen, instead of a professional politician, in the White House — although the harder I try to imagine that, the more nervous I feel about it. Here’s a good example of why.

There are lots of things in this video clip that I could talk about, but I want to mainly focus on just one thing — where Carson compares political correctness to Nazi Germany. First, though, I want to quickly say I agree with Carson the IRS shouldn’t be used as a political tool to harass opposition — as Nixon did. That, as Carson says, threatens our freedom. Now, back to political correctness, also known as PC.

Carson says, “That’s what PC is all about — you may not say this word, regardless of what your point is, because if you say this word, I’ll go into a tizzy.”

Yeah, well, it’s true we have some people who go into a tizzy if you express yourself in certain ways. It can even get you fired from your job. But that isn’t White Rose Society pc; our Fuhrer won’t cut your head off for criticizing him, partly because we don’t have a Fuhrer (notwithstanding Republican allegations). If you use certain language, someone may get mad at you, or your boss may fire you, but nobody will imprison or kill you. In most cases, our government won’t take any action against you, although there are some limited exceptions for things like shouting “FIRE!” in a crowded theater or using fighting words in a riot situation.

What differentiated Nazis from the pc crowd is they killed people. This difference seems lost on Carson and a number of other people who feel conservatives are being picked on.

Another thing they overlook is that, this being America, we liberals have a right to pick on conservatives — just as they have a right to pick on us. In fact, they do it all the time. They call us “communists,” “socialists,” “unpatriotic,” etc., then feel victimized if we repay the favor by calling them thugs, bullies, fascists, and gun lovers. C’mon, kids, sticks and stones … and besides, it’s all in good clean fun, isn’t it?

And why shouldn’t we pick on them? After all, they’re wrong about everything, they’re wrecking the country, they’re warmongers and torturers, they’re corrupt and steal from taxpayers, they’re racists, they cheat at elections and in business and foosball and pretty much everything else, and overall they’re a slimy, disreputable, repugnant bunch. Everything we say about them is true, because they’re so bad it’s nearly impossible to say anything about them that isn’t true. They deserve it.

But we don’t round them up, ship them in cattle cars to concentration camps, or push them into gas chambers and then pry their gold teeth out and use their skin for lampshades. The Nazis did all those things. Comparing people who get upset because of something you said to Nazis is simply factually inaccurate.

But then, so is going around saying the earth is 6,000 years old, Obama is a Kenya-born Muslim, global warming is a hoax, and baking soda cures cancer. So, we can’t really expect much fidelity to truth from that crowd. And, anyway, if we didn’t give them some pc to whine about, they’d whine about something else, because they’re all natural-born whiners who just like to hear themselves whine.
