Widespread Voting Problems In Connecticut; Governor Asks Court To Extend Voting Hours

The governor of Connecticut is seeking a court order to extend voting hours at 26 polling places in Hartford because of delays in opening those polling places. The problems involved failure to deliver voter lists to polling places. Other problems also were reported in that state, including optical scanners that don’t work, running out of ballots, and scattered fights. Yes, fights.

Update:  Republicans oppose the extended hours, arguing voters have plenty of time to vote. Of course, what they’re not saying is Republican employers may fire workers who leave their jobs during the day to go and vote. That’s why Connecticut opens polls at 6 a.m.
