BUILDS An Island! This One Is Not Limited to Puget Sound!
(TANews, Seattle) Having sold off his island off of Anacortes, billionaire Paul Allen has replaced it with a magnificent new “floating city” .. also called Allen Island.
While the previous Allen Island was part of Washington State, Allen Island is legally registered as a yacht in Bermuda along with Allen’s current yacht, the Octopus. The former yacht, shown here tied up to the Island, will now serve as a tender able to launch Mr. Allen’s submarine and transfer guests to and from the Island via Mr. Allen’s helicopters.
The Island will house Mr. Allan’s collection of Jimi Hendrix memorabilia, previously housed in the Experience Music Project at Seattle Center. In addition to moving his Hendrix collection, Allan purchased the Space Needle and had it installed on Allan Island as a look out tower and personal penthouse when Mr. Allan wants his privacy. The Island is entirely self contained and can house 7500 people for special occasions. Most of these will be employees of Vulcan, Mr. Allan’s investment firm. Because the firm is legally located in Bermuda, these employees will no longer be subject to Washington State taxes.
Having cruised to Seattle after being built in Shanghi’s Chinyua Shipyards and fitted with new navigation systems at Boeing in Charlotte NC, the Island is expected to stay here until next Fall when it will be moved to Qatar to participate with other personal islands in the first “Regatta of the Sea Cities.” Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon has recently visited the Island and is rumored to be building a better one.
