Husky PR:Time to do a better job!

 This is what passes for UW Advertising.

Nothing terrible about it but let me ask this …. who would send their kid to the school in this ad?

This annual UW ad comes across as the product of 1950s Mad Ave folks selling a a party school,

The UW here looks like a fun place to be with all sorts of opportunities for watching the (hired) football team or biking around a beautiful campus.  A friendly place to date and maybe even learn how to speak Japanese,

Now ask yourself this …. who would NOT be attracted by this?

a. a student deciding where to go to become a doctor, engineer, or writer.
b. a donor wanting to endow something 0ther than a sports facility.
c. a faculty recruit comparing the “Udub” to Berkeley or UNC.
d. a legislator deciding on funding for anything excellent at the UW.

I feel especially unhappy that it was Ana Mari who got to brag about tuition.  Her brag is well deserved, but shouldn’t that have been Michael Young’s job .. especially after his gaf about the GET?  Imagine President Young’s talk combining a tuition comment with pride in what those dollars from a GET buys here! Then imagine a clip with Ana and some students in an art studio learning about formlines form Marvin Oliver!

None of  the off campus folks I know have any idea of the Udub as anything that yet another State U .. a football team with an attached set of dorms and classrooms.
