Here in Seattle Microsoft is a pretty big thing .. we actually care abut our neighbors … my daughter married a Microsoft engineer.
So I was pleased when Mr. Balmer opened a store in University Village .. even if the store was a faux copy of an existing Apple store a few across a parking lot.
Imitation of the Apple Store or not, I enjoyed seeing kids take classes there and watched them freak dance together with the Kinect gadget.
Getting some expert support there was pretty cool too.
UNTIL … WINDOWS 8.1.
OK this is a beta. But it is supposedly MS’s beta. The store is not allowed to help with Windows 8.1 issues! I have has two such issues. First the thing would not install .. an issue all over the web. I figgered no biggy …the Store would help me.

The I had a problem getting certain apps to install under Win 8.1. Went to the store ..
“Sorry, we can not work on your Surface if it is running Windows 8.1”
