Davey Jones: Egypt’s troubles seen from a freighter

Davey Jones19-59.2N and 059-30.1E

I hope this letter finds you well, I forgot to put subject lines on my last
two e-mails, and I hope you didn’t miss them.
Let’s see, we’re through the ditch, and I found out after the fact that the
Egyptians had tightened security considerably, there were military
helicopters over head, and an army armored unit pacing the ships on both
sides, and an infantry unit every 1000 meters or so. Seems as though Egypt
doesn’t want to risk one of its biggest cash producers.

I can’t help wondering if Egypt becomes too unstable if any of the
neighboring countries will be quietly encouraged to occupy the Sinai…

Other than the ditch, which wasn’t that exciting at the time since I was in
the main space and didn’t know about until the next day, there is not much
interesting on here. The refer is mad about having to do some electrical
work, and the electrician is re-building his shop, I’ve been building,
something almost every day, nothing major, just a lot of stuff we have time
for, and since apparently I’m the first really good welder and builder
they’ve had in a while, we’re taking the time to get it done, if nothing
else I get to leave my mark on the ship and the cadet gains some good
experience.

We should be in Jebel Ali in a day or so, and with no major engine work, I
may actually get a night off, today is a “day off” but then a day off at sea
is when you only work 12 hours.

I still haven’t made up my mind if I will make a third trip or not, but I
still have a few weeks to make up my mind
