PRESIDENT ROMNEY: “We do not support UN intervention in Gaza”

UN Secretary General Ban

In the third presidential debate on October 22, Romney again criticized the UN and former envoy Kofi Annan for their failure to bring about a ceasefire in Syria.

That policy is now the basis for America’s new foreign policy towards Gaza.   At his weekly press conference, President Romney has expressed limited support for the United Nations General Secretaries Ban’s effort to help achieve a truce between Israel and Gaza, Mr. Romney e reiterated his earlier description of  United Nations, commenting in 2007 that it had been an “extraordinary failure” (USAToday)

The Secretary of State, former UN ambassador John Bolton, said “Bodies like the United Nations tend to confuse process with substance, prizing the act of negotiating over the outcomes that negotiations can reach,”

Mr. Romney is opposed to an force external to Israel attempting to enforce yet another truce, sayint that for Israel this may be the    “time to execute its military onslaught.” Romney has also warned Russia not to veto UN Security Council votes on Israeli-American proposals for further bans to punish Iran for its support of Hamas. “While Russia and Iran have rushed to support Hamas, thousands have been slaughtered” Romney said.
