Universities On Sale, Academic Principles Put Aside

Saudi Arabia Courts Foreign Academic Partners With Cash

Professors see potential for research and pioneering ventures; critics warn that the kingdom should carry out internal reforms first  The Chronicle

This issue has bothered me for many years. The UW has also participated in building campuses in the Saudi Kingdom.  These effort are always justified in the name of liberalism being spread, but the taint of money is frightening, especially in a nation that forbids the public practice of any religion other than Islam, where foreign Muslims are imported as slaves without rights,  and where their own education system teaches a version ofr xenophobia that gave birth to bin Laden and 9/11.

I do read the Saudi press regularly and readers here may want to use this link to get an idea of why I am concerned.
